Garmin, the smartwatch brand that offers premium devices, especially for fitness and adventure enthusiasts, has just expanded its portfolio in India with the launch of the new Fenix 8 series. Available in both AMOLED and Solar options, the watch comes in different display sizes and is now on sale in the Indian market, starting at Rs 86,990. Along with the new watch series, Garmin has also announced a personalised application aimed at fitness coaches and athletes.
The Garmin Fenix 8 Series is aimed at fitness and adventure enthusiasts offering two display options: a bright AMOLED screen and a solar-charging model. The AMOLED version is available for purchase in three sizes-43mm, 47mm, and 51mm-while the solar model comes in 47mm and 51mm.
The 51mm AMOLED variant of Garmin Fenix 8 promises to offer up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, and the solar model extends this up to 48 days. The Fenix 8 Series further boasts military-grade resistance to thermal, shock, and water exposure. Garmin has also added a sensor guard to the new Fenix 8 Series to offer users more durability by protecting watches crucial components, and leak-proof metal buttons..
For fitness tracking, the Garmin Fenix 8 Series has a number of features, including daily readiness and Body Battery scores, track endurance levels, hill climbing ability, VO2 max, and training status, providing insights into physical performance. The series also includes specialised strength training programs designed for athletes with tailored 4-6 week plans, along with sport-specific workouts for disciplines like trail running, skiing, and surfing.
Garmin Fenix 8 Series also comes with a built-in speaker and microphone, allowing users to make and receive calls directly from the watch when paired with a smartphone. The smartwatch also allows users to enable voice commands, including note-taking and assistance functions, which can also be done offline. For adventure, the smart watch includes a bright, adjustable LED flashlight with red light and strobe mode for better visibility, particularly in low-light conditions.
For adventurers enthusiasts, the Fenix 8 Series supports dive activities with its 40-metre water resistance and includes features for scuba and apnea diving. For navigation the Fenix 8 series offers detailed TopoActive maps with terrain contours, preloaded golf courses, and ski resort maps.
